FAQs

 Residents

  • Phoenix is a three-bed residential assessment centre located a short distance from the heart of Huddersfield Town Centre (HD1 area). The location of the centre is ideally positioned within close proximity to public transport links and within walking distance to a number of NHS medical health centres, pharmacies and dental practices. Located close to the centre is one of Huddersfield’s largest parks, Greenhead Park. This is located behind the centre making it the ideal location for families.

  • Find our checklist for what you need to bring to Project Phoenix here.

  • Parents are assessed using the Parent Assessment Manual Software (PAMS) or with a Parenting Assessment. You will be assessed by a qualified social worker over a period of 10 weeks. The assessment will include 1:1 sessions, observations, and liaising with ally professionals and support networks.

  • Residents are allowed one organised visit for a maximum of four hours per week. Visits are conducted on the weekend. All visitors must be prechecked and confirmed by the local authority. Please note that these visits will reflect the current Government guidelines.

  • The consideration of a referral is based on many factors including risk assessments and room availability. Given that there is the appropriate space to safely accommodate the referral, we are able to assess families with more than one child.

  • In the case of appointments, court dates and therapy sessions, family support workers will be available to provide childcare.

  • At full capacity, we can accommodate three families at a time. This may vary depending on the number of people per family.

  • Residents are required to buy their own groceries and prepare their own meals for both parents and children. We offer cooking classes as part of our programmes at the unit. Families are expected to buy their own ingredients.

  • Project Phoenix has a three step complaints procedure that can be found via the welcome pack and residents guide

  • Aside from general daily feedback and guidance, residents will receive structured feedback points throughout their assessment. On a weekly basis, residents will have Key Worker sessions, in which they will discuss their assessment feedback and any other matters. Every three weeks, residents will have a review meeting with the deputy manager. This will allow them to review the progress of the placement and discus matters regarding their assessment.

  • Once a referral is risk assessed and accepted, parents are invited to visit the unit to meet our team and view the residence. We then schedule a move in date, and once arrived parents will have a placement planning meeting with the registered manager, key worker and local authority social worker. In this meeting the information gathered will form the basis of the family care plan. In the case of an emergency referral, the family will be risked assessed, with a moving date arranged, and a placement planning meeting to be held within 24 hours of commencement date.
