Family Support Worker (Night)

Job Title: Family Support Worker                                      

Responsible To: Registered Manager           

Location: Project Phoenix Ltd

Hours: 36

Main Tasks

  1. To work as part of a team providing tailored support to young families focusing on the promotion of parenting skills where there are safeguarding and or other concerns.

  2. To provide professional focused advice to families as part of a support plan.

  3. To ensure that the families accommodated understand and abide by the terms and conditions of the occupancy agreement.

  4. To be a part of the rota. To provide regular sleep-in cover, lone working, and to work evenings and weekends when required.

  5. To maintain surveillance over the residents via CCTV throughout the night.

  6. To keep accurate records and maintain effective communication on all aspects of work by using Project Phoenix systems for record keeping, monitoring and communicating with colleagues.

  7. To operate within the Projects clear framework of confidentiality at all times.

  8. To participate in regular in-house meetings and handovers.

  9. To work within the project and organisational policies and procedures.

  10. To attend regular supervision sessions.

  11. To attend training as relevant to your post.

  12. To undertake any other duties, as appropriate to the character of this work and as requested by management, as reasonably required.

Previous experience as a support care worker/carer (paid or voluntary)

Experience working with people in any of the following areas.

-Mental health

-Drug and alcohol misuse

-Sensory/physical/ learning disabilities

-Young people

-Ex offenders

-Working with children

-Families

-Vulnerable Adults

Experience in helping service users develop life skills

Experience in planning and facilitating groups

Ability to communicate at all levels

Ability to deal with a range of resident issues and manage challenging behaviour

Understanding of the support planning/key work system within supported housing environment.

Understanding of how to undertake appropriate risk assessments

Training and Qualifications

Educated to GCSE standard in English and Maths

NVQ level 2 in Health and Social care or equivalent in other relevant field e.g., nursing, youth support, childcare

Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Outlook Calendar and Excel

Basic Life Support 1,2, or 3

Qualification in either: mental health, Drug & Alcohol, Counselling, Sexual health, youth work

Safeguarding children

Safeguarding adults

First aid for children (Paediatric First Aid)
